Frequently Asked Questions

What is Time and Attendance?

T&A is a system to record the movement of employees, their absences (holidays, sickness, lateness overtime etc.) and even their actual activities.

How can I benefit from a Time & Attendance system?

By introducing a T&A system your employees will be more disciplined, and you shall have essential managerial information about your business. This will enable better control and cost savings.

Is Time and Attendance system only suitable for manufacturing?

No. More and more "white collar" companies use T&A to monitor attendance, lateness, absences and flexi time.

If I do not pay overtime, do I still need a Time and Attendance system?

Yes. If you want to be sure that your employees are there when you need them, if you want more discipline in the work place, if you want more information including costing - you need a T&A system.

Can one employee swipe for another?

With the use of our innovative finger print verification, one employee cannot swipe for his "mate".

Will Synel Software work on Windows XP and Vista?

Yes, all new systems installed will work on Windows XP, Vista and all Windows versions 95 or higher.

Can I link my Time & Attendance software to my payroll?

Can the ID cards be used as photo ID cards?

Yes. You can have the cards printed with the company's logo, employee's name and title and photo ID.

What is Access Control?

If you want to restrict access to the site or to sensitive areas within the site, you need to have measures to stop unwanted visitors entering without authorisation.

Why do I need Security Access Control?

If you want to protect your employees and the company's assets, and create a safe environment you need an Access Control system.

Is Synel Access Control very expensive?

One door access control will cost from £500.00. The cost depends on the number of doors, the door hardware, the cabling and installation and the technology you want to use.

How does your Access Control solution work?

Each employee or visitor is given an ID card. Each card user is allocated to a "security group" with specific authorisation to enter certain doors on pre defined days and times. When they want to enter they use the card - the system will check authorisation, if approved - a door release is activated. The data is stored for future processing. The system can also operate in real time mode showing on a PC screen the movements of each individual.

Can Synel Access Control be linked to other systems?

Yes. The employees' data can be automatically imported from your HR system, it can operate as part of your T&A system, it can even be linked to your CCTV system.

Do I have to get a locksmith to install the locks?

No. Synel can offer a turn key solution including all the components of the system.
