Power over Ethernet |
Power over Ethernet or PoE technology, describes a system that transmits electrical power, along with data, to remote devices over standard network cables in an Ethernet network.
This technology is useful for powering registration points, access points, wireless LAN, webcams, Ethernet hubs and other appliances where it would be inconvenient or unfeasible to supply power separately.
Hub or Switch puts power into the cable and a PoE power splitter draws power from the cable. The two devices actually deliver PoE according to the IEEE safe standard.
- No need for extra separate cable runs
- Lower voltage - increased safety
- Greatly reduces installation costs
- No need to supply mains spur for each reader, only mains socket where the injector is
