Access Control

ANPR: Automatic Vehicle Access Without Stopping

ANPR from Synel Access removes friction at vehicle entrances. Number plates are recognised as vehicles approach, barriers open automatically, and access is logged without drivers stopping or presenting credentials. Integrated with Synergy Access, vehicle and pedestrian security are managed from one system.

The reality today

Vehicles queue at your barrier. Drivers fumble for cards or wait for security to check lists. Delivery trucks arrive at night when no one is there to let them in. You have no idea which vehicles are on site. When someone leaves the company, you forget to remove their vehicle from the system.

The Solution

ANPR from Synel controls vehicle access to your sites automatically using number plate recognition. Authorised vehicles are granted entry based on defined rules, access is logged in real time, and vehicle permissions can be added or removed instantly from the central system.

No Stopping

Authorised vehicles pass straight through. No cards, no fobs, no waiting.

Timed Control

Control access by time of day, day of week, or vehicle group.

Know Who's On Site

Real-time dashboard shows every vehicle currently on your premises.

One Platform

Manage people and vehicles from Synergy Access. One system, one database.

About ANPR

Synel's ANPR solution recognises vehicles entering and exiting your premises in real-time using dedicated imaging cameras. Once a vehicle is recognised as authorised, the system takes control of electronic gates, bollards or barriers to provide access. The whole process takes seconds.

How It Works

A dedicated ANPR camera captures the number plate as a vehicle approaches. The data is checked against a database stored on the on-premise ANPR server. If the plate matches an authorised vehicle, the barrier opens automatically. Drivers do not need to stop, wind down windows, or present credentials.

Timed Access Management

Control which vehicles can access your site at which times. Restrict delivery vehicles to operational hours. Prevent staff parking outside shift times. Block access at weekends for specific vehicle groups. The system enforces your rules automatically.

Accept and Deny Lists

Manage authorised vehicles through simple accept and deny lists. Add employee vehicles, regular contractors, and expected visitors. Remove access instantly when someone leaves. Deny specific plates that should never be granted entry.

Real-Time Dashboard

See which vehicles are currently on site. View entry and exit times. Monitor access points remotely from any location via the web-based interface. Generate reports showing vehicle movements over any time period.

Works Day and Night

All ANPR cameras are weatherproof with built-in infrared sensors. They operate in full daylight and complete darkness. Low light conditions do not affect accuracy. Your vehicle access control works around the clock.

Multiple Lanes

The system supports multiple cameras and barriers. Control entry and exit lanes separately. Install entry cameras at one location and exit cameras at another. Up to four cameras per server, scalable to suit your car park.

Integrates with Synergy Access

ANPR is available as a module within Synergy Access or as a standalone solution. When integrated, you manage pedestrian and vehicle access from one platform. Employee records link to vehicle registrations. Deactivate a person and their vehicle access stops too.

Flexible Installation

Cameras are available in surface mount or floor mount options. Position at the height and angle that gives best number plate visibility for your site. Controls all types of electronic barriers, bollards and gates.

Reliable Operation

The ANPR engine runs on an on-premise server. Number plate databases sync from the central system but operate independently. If the network fails, the local server continues to grant access to authorised vehicles.

Access Control FAQs

Common questions about access control answered.

What is access control?

Access control systems manage who can enter your premises, specific buildings or restricted areas.

They use credentials such as cards, PINs or biometrics to verify identity and grant or deny entry, while maintaining a complete audit trail of all access events.

Can access control integrate with fire alarm systems?

Yes. Synel access control systems connect directly to building fire panels via the Adam Link controller.

Upon alarm activation, the system automatically unlocks designated doors, gates and turnstiles. Power is cut to magnetic locks, ensuring they fail-safe (unlock) instantly.

The system also generates instant roll call reports showing who is on site, supporting fire safety compliance and speeding up evacuation accountability.

Can employees use the same credential for both time & attendance and door access?

Yes. Synel's integrated platform allows a single credential to work across multiple systems. Whether employees use a card, fob, fingerprint or facial recognition, the same credential can be used to clock in and gain door access at the same time.

This means one system and one enrolment process, reducing complexity and lowering overall cost. It also creates a simpler, more consistent experience for employees.

If enabled, the same credential can also be used for cashless catering and secure print release.
