Access Control

See Who's There. Let Them In. From Anywhere.

Door entry systems from Synel give you complete control over who enters your building — without needing to be at the door. Whether it's a visitor buzzing reception, a delivery at the gate, or a contractor arriving out of hours, you see them, speak to them, and let them in from wherever you are.

Simple to use. Professional to install. Built for buildings that need to run smoothly.

The reality today

A buzzer on the wall only works if someone's sitting next to it. Visitors are left waiting. Deliveries get missed. Staff have to drop what they're doing to answer the door. Gates and barriers need someone physically present to operate them.

It doesn't have to work that way.

The Solution

Door entry systems from Synel let you see and speak to visitors before granting access. Answer calls from a desk unit, a PC, or a mobile app. One person can cover multiple entry points without leaving their seat.

How It Works

How Access Control Works

Secure your site with a straightforward setup and ongoing management.

1

Present Credential

User presents card, fob, fingerprint, or face to reader at access point.

2

Verify Access

System checks security group membership and time zone permissions.

3

Grant or Deny

Door unlocks if authorised. Access denied if rules not met.

4

Log Event

Every event logged with timestamp, user ID, and door location.

5

Monitor

Security team monitors real-time dashboard. Alerts on exceptions.

About Door Entry Systems

Answer the door from your desk — or your phone

Video intercom panels at your entrance let you see and speak to visitors before granting access. Answer calls from a desk unit, a PC, or a mobile app. One person can cover multiple entry points without leaving their seat.

Control gates and barriers remotely

Front gates, car park barriers, loading bays — release them instantly with a single button press. No need for someone to walk out. No need for visitors to wait.

Know exactly who came and went

Every entry is logged with a timestamp and, where video is enabled, an image. Useful for visitor records, security reviews, and peace of mind.

Works for buildings of any size

From a single front door to a multi-entrance site with separate gates and delivery areas, we design and install a system that fits how your building actually operates.

Key Features

  • Video and audio intercom at entrances, gates, and barriers

  • Remote door and gate release from desk unit, PC, or mobile

  • Call routing — forward door calls to different people or teams

  • Call queuing for busy reception environments

  • Visitor log with timestamps and optional image capture

  • Vandal-resistant, weatherproof hardware for external installations

  • Wired and IP-based systems available

Access Control — When You Need More

If your building also requires controlled access — restricted areas, time-limited entry for contractors, or staff-only zones — Synel's Synergy Access platform can be added alongside your door entry system. One supplier, one support contact, one joined-up solution.

Access Control FAQs

Common questions about access control answered.

What is access control?

Access control systems manage who can enter your premises, specific buildings or restricted areas.

They use credentials such as cards, PINs or biometrics to verify identity and grant or deny entry, while maintaining a complete audit trail of all access events.

What card technologies does Synel support?

Synel readers support all major card technologies: Mifare (13.56MHz), Proximity (125KHz), HID and HID iClass. Credentials can be standard ISO cards or key fobs.

If you have existing access control credentials, they will likely work with Synergy terminals.

The same card can be used for door access, time and attendance clocking, cashless catering and print release. One credential across all systems.

Can employees use the same credential for both time & attendance and door access?

Yes. Synel's integrated platform allows a single credential to work across multiple systems. Whether employees use a card, fob, fingerprint or facial recognition, the same credential can be used to clock in and gain door access at the same time.

This means one system and one enrolment process, reducing complexity and lowering overall cost. It also creates a simpler, more consistent experience for employees.

If enabled, the same credential can also be used for cashless catering and secure print release.

Can access control integrate with fire alarm systems?

Yes. Synel access control systems connect directly to building fire panels via the Adam Link controller.

Upon alarm activation, the system automatically unlocks designated doors, gates and turnstiles. Power is cut to magnetic locks, ensuring they fail-safe (unlock) instantly.

The system also generates instant roll call reports showing who is on site, supporting fire safety compliance and speeding up evacuation accountability.

Do you provide on-site support?

Yes. Unlike many competitors who rely on third-party installers, Synel employs our own team of engineers across the UK.

We handle installation, training and ongoing support directly. This means faster response times, consistent quality and engineers who know your system inside out.
